What meetings exist for in-person/face-to-face gatherings of adult adoptees? Open to support groups, casual meetups, etc.
I would love to know for all states so all members of this forum can benefit. I happen to be most interested in any located in New York.
Any organization names, website links, or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, everyone!

There is some info for support groups listed on the American Adoption Congress website: www.americanadoptioncongress.org/Some of these are mixed/triad groups. There is also an AAC conference coming up in April. I recommend it if you are able to go. This year it's in Albuquerque, next year it will be in DC. Where in NY are you?

Yes I'm in the UK too and had wondered whether an adopted group existed here somewhere.

Looks like there are a few in/around NYC but not upstate.
Anyone can start one. The AAC website had suggestions for triad groups, but they would probably work for adoptee only groups, too.

In Ohio, there is the Adoption Network Cleveland. They hold groups in various cities. There are also different groups within universities. In the Columbus area, Ohio State University and Capital have adoptee support groups.

There is one in Washington, D.C. that's through Concerned United Birth Mothers. The group is roughly 1/2 birth mothers and 1/2 adoptees like myself. My birth mother passed before I began my search, so I've found having the perspective of the birth mothers very helpful.
I have also heard good things about a group through the Barker Foundation in suburban Maryland, but I work the evening they meet so I cannot speak from personal experience.

I go to one in NY led by Carol Schaefer, writer of The Other Mother and Searching. She is a birth mom and I believe it is for all triad members but they usually only have adoptees and occasional birth moms.

I’d also be interested in any support groups in the UK. Seems to be very little out there. I feel like we are forgotten. There seems to be support for nearly everything else ( which is a good thing)

I would love to attend a support group. I'm in North Carolina. I can't find any info about any here. There was one close by, the the email address associated with it is no longer active.

There seems a few of us in the U.K. on here. I’m up for an organised support group but not sure how to go about doing it! Guess it depends if it’s meeting face to face or online or something. I’m in the South west too. I would love to hear from anyone close by. 🤗

I did have a look around online, but there doesn't seem to be much about (at least in the UK).
