Is it possible to create a thread for images/art work relating to adoption? I did a Fine Art degree some years ago, and some of my work is about being an adoptee. Oddly, I didn't realise the work I was doing was adoption-related until afterwards! I guess I was working intuitively from the subconscious. I just remember knowing I had to work in particular ways to create images/work, and I was very driven to do it. Retrospectively I found it helpful, useful, and I feel it was my way of externalising something I did not have words for. It was pre-verbal, but I knew it and understood it deeply on some other level. Creating and sharing images of work on this forum may be useful and beneficial to some of us here.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread for art. I can't remember where it is though. One of the admins will know.

You can put your adoption related art in Adoption Writings or in the Hobbies section. If there's enough demand, we can create a subforum for it, but we're trying to avoid too many forums because they just don't get used. We can always change the name of the Writings section instead.

I would love to talk to you some more! I am currently an undergraduate getting my degree in ceramics , and my work often covers the topic of my adoption.

I love that image! It reminds me of my Pinterest page of images that move me.

I am very interested in how art can foster communication and healing for us.

I create art and poetry when I feel overwhelmed. It really helps me organize my thoughts. My poems are not really good but they help me cope.

I can identify so much with that picture. I remember when small I would take my family photos and study my appearance very closely for hours, trying to find some resemblance so some one... Any one.
